Dr. Cheezum was elected to the City Commission on November 7, 2023. She is a professor of public health at a local public university. She served on the Royal Oak Parks, Recreation & Senior Services Committee and the Aging in Place Task Force. She holds a bachelor’s degree from Bates College, a Master of Public Health Degree from Boston University, and a Doctor of Philosophy degree from University of Michigan’s School of Public Health. She has lived in Royal Oak since 2011 and lives here with her husband and young daughter.
