Street Tree Planting Program

Royal Oak residents have the opportunity to help expand the tree canopy by requesting that a tree is planted in the easement between the sidewalk and the street in front of their home. Questions about the Street Tree Planting Program? Call DPS at 248-246-3300.

Memorial Trees

Residents can purchase a Memorial tree for a loved one, special event or for any other reason. Memorial trees are planted in city parks and the city will try to accommodate the location, however if it isn’t an ideal location the tree will be planted as close as possible. Plaques may be purchased at an additional cost. Professional installation for the memorial tree and plaque is included in the cost. Eligibility

  • Any individual can purchase a Memorial Tree, however, the individual being honored with the tree must have had some affiliation with the City of Royal Oak. This affiliation can be: current or former residents; current or former business owners or employees of a business within Royal Oak; current or former city employees; or some meaningful relationship with any of the above.
  • Memorial Trees  will be placed in city parks.

Cost

  • Tree- $389
  • Engraved Plaque- $250 (optional)

Details

Residents must complete an application via Royal Oak Parks and Recreation registration. Payment is not due until the application has been approved. In the application, residents may select from the below tree varieties. Final approval of tree variety and placement is at the discretion of the Parks and Recreation Department.
