Facilities

The Salter Center is operated by the Metro Detroit Youth Club. The club serves youth of 6-18 years. During the summer they offer a morning camp and have general club hours. During the school year they have an after school program (M-F) 3:30pm - 7:30pm and a Teen Friday event 3:30 - 9:30pm. Royal Oak Recreation: Many of the classes offered by the City of Royal Oak's Recreation Department take place at the Salter Center. Check out https://www.royaloakrec.com/ for available classes. 

Pickleball: Over the summer Pickleball is played outdoors May - October at Whittier and Upton Parks 9:00am - 8:00pm. During winter it is moved inside the Salter Center and will cost $2. Starting January 3rd prices will increase to $3 per person per session. The nets at the outdoor courts will be taken down October 21 and the games will be moved inside October 24. Free Senior Walking group: Meets year round in the Salter Center Monday - Friday 8:30-11:00am.

Gym Rental: There is a multi-purpose gym that can be rented for $60 per hour. It is usually rented out to play basketball or soccer. There are no open play times. Food and drinks are not allowed in the gym. The gym cannot be rented for birthday parties. For more information and available times please call 248-246-3180.
