CAP1715 Asphalt Resurfacing Improvements

Contractor: AJAX Paving Industries, Inc.

The contractor will continue placing topsoil and seed on the remaining project streets during the week of July 24th. Restoration is expected to be complete by the end of the week. The contractor will water the restored areas throughout the summer until grass is established. Residents are encouraged to water the seeded areas as well.

The contractor will also work on minor punch-list items for the project in the coming weeks.

CAP1735 Road Reconstruction Improvements

Contractor: Mark Anthony Contracting, Inc.

Batavia Avenue

The contractor will continue water main connections and water service transfers to the new water main during the week of July 24th. Properties that will be without water during connections will be notified via door hanger the day beforehand. Shutdowns are typically 4 to 8 hours long.

After the water main work is completed, the contractor will perform storm sewer and sanitary sewer replacements in a few areas of the roadway.

The Department of Public Service will also be transferring water services on E. Hudson, west of Batavia Avenue.

Dallas Avenue

The contractor plans to begin driveway and sidewalk removals on Dallas Avenue the week of July 24th to allow for water main installation. The removals are primarily on the north side of Dallas Avenue, from Helene Avenue to Stephenson Avenue. Water main piping is scheduled to be delivered during the week and will be stored in the greenbelt of the roadway. Water main installation is tentatively scheduled to begin at the end of the week or early the following week.

Fairview Avenue

Consumers Energy has finished replacing the gas main on Fairview Avenue and the contractor is planning to place the road base material during the week of July 24th. The road is tentatively scheduled to be paved by the end of the week or early the following week. The road will remain closed for one week after concrete is placed to allow for curing.

Kalama Avenue and Brinkey Avenue

The contractor plans to place the road base material early during the week of July 24th and plans to pave the two roads by the end of the week. The pavement will remain closed for one week after concrete is placed to allow for curing.

Lockwood Avenue

Work is expected to begin in the next couple weeks on Lockwood Avenue. The contractor will first saw-cut and remove a portion of the pavement and driveways to allow for water main installation, primarily on the west side of the roadway. Water main piping is tentatively scheduled to be delivered in the next couple weeks.

CAP1630 Special Assessment Paving Improvements

Contractor: Mark Anthony Contracting, Inc.

Girard Road & Public Alley - from Whitcomb Ave. to Millard Ave.

Sod for Girard is expected to be completed during the week of July 24th and the contractor plans to move to the public alley afterward for cleanup and restoration.

S. Edison Avenue and W. Park Avenue

The contractor plans to joint-seal the new pavement during the week of July 24th and will post “No Parking” signs for this one-day operation.

Public Alley - 14 Mile Road to Rochester Road (behind businesses)

The contractor tentatively plans to begin water main work in the next couple weeks.

Orchard Grove Drive

The contractor tentatively plans to begin water main work in the next couple weeks.

CAP1535 Road Reconstruction Improvements

Contractor: Hard Rock Concrete, Inc.

Sherman Drive Construction

Sherman Drive is now open to traffic. Sod restoration is planned for September.

Linwood Avenue Construction

The contractor has finished placing residential driveways and they will remain closed for one week to allow the concrete to cure. The contractor plans to pave the short gap of pavement at the south end of the roadway (at the bank) next week.

Residents have been authorized to park in the Shrine Grade School parking lot as needed during construction.

CAP1710 Water Main Improvements

Contractor: F.D.M. Contracting, Inc.

Bellaire Avenue

The contractor has plans to place concrete for the patches on the south side of the roadway during the week of July 24th. The patches will need to remain closed for one week to allow the concrete to cure.

The contractor plans to wait until September for sod restoration.

Rochester Road

The contractor plans to replace a few flags of sidewalk during the week of July 24th. Topsoil is tentatively planned to be placed in two weeks and the areas will be seeded in September.

CAP1505 Concrete Street Repairs

Contractor: Galui Construction Co., Inc.

The contractor plans to finish the second half of the streets north of 12 Mile Road in the next couple weeks. Work on Galpin, Hickory and Marais will be delayed until mid-August. There is also some road intersection work (a quarter of the intersection) that will be replaced at this time.

2017 Sidewalk Improvement Program

Contractor: Italia Construction, Inc.

The contractor has finished most of the work for the sidewalk program and will be performing punch-list work. Work on new sidewalk installation (where none previously existed) has been put on hold with the installation schedule to be determined at a later date.
