CAP1715 Asphalt Resurfacing Improvements

Contractor: AJAX Paving Industries, Inc.

Phase 1 and 2 paving work is complete.

The contractor is performing curb replacement work on Phase 3 streets. Removals are nearly complete, and concrete is scheduled for the week of June 5th. Asphalt milling for Phase 3 streets is tentatively scheduled for the week of June 12th.

CAP1735 Road Reconstruction Improvements

Contractor: Mark Anthony Contracting, Inc.

Batavia Avenue

The contractor will continue water main installation for the next few weeks.

Several water services on Batavia have galvanized piping, which is typically fragile and prone to breaks. If a water service breaks during construction, the city will perform an emergency shutdown. Emergency shutdowns for service repairs typically last about 2 hours. As the contractor comes across galvanized water services, the city will notify individual residents.

Fairview Avenue

The contractor is planning to begin work on Fairview Avenue the week of June 12th.

The remaining streets are scheduled to be reconstructed in the following order:

Dallas Avenue: Helene Avenue to Stephenson Highway
Kalama Avenue: Brinkey Avenue to Stephenson Highway
Brinkey Avenue: Kalama Avenue to Harwood Avenue
Lockwood Avenue: Catalpa Drive to Crane Avenue

CAP1630 Special Assessment Paving Improvements

Contractor: Mark Anthony Contracting, Inc.

Public Alley - East of Rochester Road, from Whitcomb Ave. to Millard Ave.

The contractor has started grading and paving work within the public alley. The alley is scheduled to be paved the week of June 5th.

Bassett Road

The road pavement, driveway approaches and sidewalks have been installed. The contractor plans to perform sod restoration the week of June 5th, weather permitting.

Girard Road

Girard Road has been paved and is open to local traffic only. Driveways and sidewalk work is expected to be completed the week of June 5th. Sod restoration work is planned to occur in the next few weeks.

S. Edison Avenue

Water main work on S. Edison Avenue is complete. The contractor plans to begin preparing the roadway for paving operations during the week of June 5th and plans to pave the road the week of June 12th.

Wrenford Road

Restoration work has been pushed back to the week of June 5th.

Massoit Road

Restoration work has been pushed back to the week of June 5th.

W. Park Avenue

The contractor is finishing the connections of individual water services to the new water main. The final water main connection is scheduled for the week of June 5th. Properties that will be without water during water main connections will be notified via door hanger the day beforehand. Shutdowns are typically 4 to 8 hours long.

Paving preparation work is tentatively scheduled for the week of June 12th.

Public Alley - 14 Mile Road to Rochester Road (behind businesses)

The contractor is tentatively planning to begin work within the alley towards the end of June.

CAP1535 Road Reconstruction Improvements

Contractor: Hard Rock Concrete, Inc.

Sherman Drive Construction

The contractor has paved all of Sherman Drive except for the section between Maxwell Avenue and the Sherman Oaks condos. The contractor plans to pour the south half of this short section during the week of June 5th, excluding the intersection at Maxwell Avenue. The contractor will pour the north half of this section and the intersection at Maxwell Avenue during the week of June 12th.

Sidewalk installation is partially complete. The contractor will continue the work on sidewalks along Sherman Drive as the schedule permits.

Linwood Avenue Construction

Work on Linwood Avenue from Woodward Avenue to 12 Mile Road is tentatively scheduled to begin the week of June 12th. The contractor will begin with underground utility work, and the road will be open to local traffic only.

CAP1710 Water Main Improvements

Contractor: F.D.M. Contracting, Inc.

Bellaire Avenue

The pavement gaps at business driveways are tentatively scheduled to be poured the week of June 5th. Sidewalk and driveway preparation work will begin afterward.

N. Vermont Avenue and Ferris Avenue

Most of the concrete has been installed for these two roadways. The contractor plans to complete the remaining concrete work during the week of June 5th.

Rochester Road

The contractor has scheduled the final water main connection for Rochester Road for Saturday June 3rd. Properties that will be without water during water main connections will be notified via door hanger the day beforehand. Shutdowns are typically 4 to 8 hours long.

The easternmost lane of northbound Rochester Road will have intermittent lane closures during work hours.

Public Alley - W Sixth Street to W Seventh Street, east of Washington Ave.

The water main has been tested and the contractor plans to connect individual water services the week of June 5th. Paving work is scheduled to occur afterward to ensure the alley is open by June 30th for the Royal Oak Rib Fest.

Street parking will be closed on W. Seventh Street between S. Washington Avenue and S. Center Street, and the alley will remain closed for the next several weeks.

CAP1505 Concrete Street Repairs

Contractor: Galui Construction Co., Inc.

During the week of June 5th the contractor plans to continue work on the project streets located south of 12 Mile Road. Once finished, the contractor will start removals on the other sides of streets, beginning at the south end and working north. Within this area, Marywood Drive will not be worked on until after school is out for the year.

2017 Sidewalk Improvement Program

Contractor: Italia Construction, Inc.

The contractor will continue working in the area between Crooks Road and Main Street during the week of June 5th. The contractor tentatively plans to begin work east of Main Street starting the week of June 12th. More information on the program can be found at www.romi.gov/sidewalks.

MDOT - Woodward Avenue Work

MDOT will have rolling lane closures along Woodward Avenue until mid-June to allow for catch basin repairs. Closures will take place in the outer lanes of the roadway, and only one lane will be closed at a time.
