CAP1735 Road Reconstruction Improvements

Batavia Avenue

Surveyors will be staking Batavia Avenue for water main installation the week of May 8th. The contractor plans to remove curbing, driveway approaches and sidewalk on the east side of Batavia Avenue in preparation for water main installation. Driveway approaches on the east side of the road will be replaced with crushed stone for resident access.

The remaining streets are scheduled to be reconstructed in the following order:

Fairview Avenue: Crooks Road to dead end
Dallas Avenue: Helene Avenue to Stephenson Highway
Kalama Avenue: Brinkey Avenue to Stephenson Highway
Brinkey Avenue: Kalama Avenue to Harwood Avenue
Lockwood Avenue: Catalpa Drive to Crane Avenue

CAP1715 Asphalt Resurfacing Improvements

The contractor has completed milling operations on Phase 1 streets, and has begun repairs to the concrete road base. The contractor will continue this work and will adjust drainage structures the week of May 8th. Asphalt paving of Phase 1 streets is tentatively scheduled for the week of May 15th.

The contractor will also continue curb replacement for Phase 2 streets the week of May 8th.

CAP1630 Special Assessment Paving Improvements

S. Edison Avenue

The contractor plans to test the new water main and transfer water services to the new main during the week of May 8th. Traffic on 11 Mile Road will be shifted for one or two days later next week when the water main is connected within the roadway. This will require a temporary lane shift on 11 Mile Road, east of Campbell Road. Paving is tentatively scheduled to occur the following week.

Wrenford Road

Due to rain delays, the paving of Wrenford Road has been pushed to the week of May 8th.

Massoit Road

The contractor plans to begin excavation for minor storm sewer improvements on Massoit Road next week, followed by road grading.

W. Park Avenue

Water main work on W. Park Avenue is scheduled to begin the week of May 8th.

CAP1535 Sherman Drive Construction

The contractor has finished paving Sherman Drive from 11 Mile Road to N. West Street. This short section of roadway will likely be open in one to two weeks after sidewalk installation is complete.

The contractor plans to pave the southern half of Sherman Drive from Forestdale Road to the Sherman Oaks condos the week of May 8th, and plans to place concrete for driveway approaches on the north side afterwards. Phase I of Sherman Drive will be closed to traffic, with one of the two driveways for the apartments at 1125 Sherman Drive open at all times for tenants.

The contractor also plans to finish excavation and grading from Maxwell Avenue to N. West Street. The north half of this section is tentatively scheduled to be paved in two weeks. The intersection at Maxwell Avenue will remain open for north/south traffic and for residents between Maxwell Avenue and the Sherman Oaks condominiums.

CAP1710 Water Main Improvements

Bellaire Avenue, Ferris Avenue, N. Vermont Avenue, Rochester Road

On Bellaire Avenue, pavement removal will begin in the next few weeks, primarily on the north half of the road.

On N. Vermont Avenue, the contractor has removed several sections of pavement and plans to pour concrete the week of May 8th.

On Rochester Road, the water main installation is planned to begin the week of May 8th, between Donald Avenue and 14 Mile Road. This work will take place primarily in the greenbelt area on the east side of Rochester Road. The easternmost lane of northbound Rochester Road will have intermittent lane closures during work hours.

CAP1505 Concrete Street Repairs

Pavement removal and replacement work is scheduled to begin during the week of May 8th. Work will start at the south end of the city, moving north on one side of the street. Once finished, the contractor will work on the other sides of the street, moving from south to north. This will allow the road to remain open during construction.

2017 Sidewalk Improvement Program

Work is scheduled to begin the week of May 15th, starting at the west end of the target area and moving eastward. The project area is generally located north of 13 Mile Road and east of the railroad tracks. More information can be found at www.romi.gov/sidewalks.

CAP1725 Joint Sealing Improvements

The city's contractor had some rain delays, and plans to finish all work for the project the week of May 8th. The only remaining work is on 13 Mile Road between Woodward Avenue and Crooks Road.
