Woodward Ave Corridor Plan

EXPLORE THE WOODWARD CORRIDOR PLAN and give your feedback!

The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) is developing an M-1 (Woodward Avenue) Corridor Plan  to create a comprehensive vision that balances the needs of all users. Here's what the plan will do:

  • Analyze operations and safety for all road users
  • Assess pavement needs and prioritize future projects
  • Consider environmental, community, historic preservation, and economic goals.
  • Evaluate infrastructure, geometric, safety, and operational needs for all transportation modes.
  • Coordinate with public transit studies by RTA, SMART, and DDOT.
  • Integrate sustainability and climate resilience best practices.
  • Establish construction cost estimates, project prioritization, and timelines based on current funding.

This plan covers Woodward Avenue from Adams Road in downtown Detroit, through Royal Oak, and continues to the Woodward Loop in Pontiac.

MDOT is committed to involving 11 communities, including ROYAL OAK, two counties, four modes of public transportation and spans a distance of over 20 miles in length.
