CAP2308 Major Road Improvements

Vinsetta Boulevard:

Final paving of Vinsetta is scheduled for Monday and Tuesday this week. Once complete, the contractor will begin landscape restoration, weather permitting.

Normandy Road:

The new water main will finish testing this week. Once complete, they will schedule the new water main connection, likely towards the end of the week.

Normandy Road will be closed to thru traffic throughout construction. Residents with driveways on Normandy will still be able to enter the construction zone via the side streets to access their property. Businesses should direct their patrons, employees and deliveries to use Coolidge to access Normandy Road to minimize conflicts with construction work.

Lincoln Avenue:

Lincoln Avenue is substantially complete. This week the contractor will work on finishing the remaining pavement markings, weather permitting.

CAP2305 Concrete Repair Program

This week the contractor is continuing work in the Phase 5 neighborhood, working on the second halves of the project streets. The contractor has a few sidewalk ramps to complete within the neighborhood and will also be doing prep work for new speed humps on Buckingham.

Work in Phases 1-5 is substantially complete.

Work will only be performed on one side of the street at a time, to maintain access for residents throughout construction. Only the worst sections of concrete pavement will be removed and replaced, not the entire roadway. If driveway access will be affected, residents will be notified the day beforehand via doorhanger.

CAP2310 Water Main Improvements

Longfellow

The contractor has a few sidewalk ramps that they will be working on this week and one remaining water service. Once complete they will begin grading and prepping the roadway for paving.

Sixth Street

This week the contractor will continue transferring individual residents' water services to the new main. These connections usually require a short duration water shut off and the contractor will notify residents beforehand. Once complete, the contractor will begin work on the north side of the roadway replacing curbing and approaches, weather permitting.

CAP2315 Asphalt Resurfacing

The project streets shown in purple on the project map have been divided into three phases as shown below.

Phase 1

Lawn restoration will continue this week of Phase 1 streets.

On Hawthorn, paving will be rescheduled to be done during the next paving session.

On Forest, storm sewer repairs continue and should finish up this week.  Once complete, the contractor will replace the driveway approaches that were out of spec (too steep) for those affected residents, weather permitting.

 During the sewer work, Forest will be completely closed from Alexander to house #524/527, and residents within this section will not have access to their driveways.

On N. Wilson, the contractor will continue any remaining lawn restoration work. Final paving will occur next paving session.

Phase 2

On Etowah, the contractor will continue work on the west side of the roadway this week, working north to south.

On Hoffman, the contractor has completed curb replacement work. The roadway will be scheduled for milling once work on Blair progresses.

On S. Blair, concrete work continues this week, on the west side of the roadway.

Phase 3

On Wellesley, curb work may begin later in the week on the east side of the roadway, weather permitting.

Work on S. Edison, S. Wilson, and Tufts will likely begin mid-July as work on other streets progresses.

CAP2335 Road Reconstruction

Parkdale (Vermont to N. Wilson)

This street is substantially complete. The contractor will finish any remaining lawn restoration and punch list items.

Woodsboro

This street is substantially complete. The contractor will finish any remaining lawn restoration and punch list items.

E. Hudson

The contractor will be working on lawn restoration this week.

Helene

Paving is tentatively schedule for Tuesday/Wednesday this week, weather permitting.

Houstonia

The contractor is working on lawn restoration this week.

Brockton

The contractor plans to pave the roadway beginning on Tuesday, weather permitting.

Seventh

The contractor is beginning work this week, removing the roadway pavement.

Ferris

The contractor is beginning work on removals this week. Once complete they will begin grading work and prepping the roadway for new pavement.

Parking: The school is allowing residents to use the parking lot off Brockton during construction. Some spaces will be marked for school use only but the remaining spaces are available to residents to park during construction.

CAP2302 Sidewalk Program

The contractor's removal crew is currently working north of Catalpa, and the pouring crew is installing new sidewalks between 11 Mile and Catalpa working north. Most of the concrete work is complete south of 11 Mile, where the contractor is working on backfilling and lawn restoration.

If you disagree with the estimate for sidewalk replacement adjacent to your home, you can call the engineering office to schedule an appointment to meet with the inspector for the project and review the sidewalk work.

RCOC Roundabout
Greenfield & Normandy 

The Road Commission for Oakland County (RCOC) has begun the installation of a roundabout at the intersection of Greenfield Road and Normandy Road. The intersection is closed to traffic for the duration of construction.
